The Terrorism Prevention Branch (TPB) works with Member States in all regions of the world to strengthen the rule of law and enhance criminal justice responses to terrorism. While our mandate is global, our assistance is always tailored to regional and national contexts.
Across all regions, TPB maintains long-standing relations with Member States and regional organizations, such as the African Union, the League of Arab States, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the European Union, and the Organization of American States. Through these partnerships, TPB fosters cross-border cooperation, facilitates information sharing, and promotes harmonized approaches to counter-terrorism in line with international law and human rights standards.
Wherever we operate, TPB’s objective remains the same: to empower criminal justice systems to prevent and respond effectively to terrorism, while upholding the principles of justice, human rights, and international cooperation.
Our current Global Programme is the primary framework to implement the thematic area of preventing and countering terrorism of the
UNODC Strategy (2021-2025). Further, the Programme supports the region-specific strategic visions developed by UNODC, currently including Africa, Latin America and Nigeria, concerning preventing and countering terrorism.
