Reference is made to the Conference resolution 4/6, whereby inter alia civil society briefings shall be convened on the margins of the sessions of the Implementation Review Group. According to that resolution, in accordance with rule 17, paragraphs 1 and 2, respectively, of the rules of procedure of the Conference, the Secretariat shall invite to the briefings:
relevant non-governmental organizations having consultative status with the Economic and Social Council, as well as
other relevant non-governmental organizations, which have been admitted to participate as observers in the session of the Conference previous to the briefing.
The same resolution indicates that “[n]on-governmental organizations wishing to attend a briefing shall confirm their attendance no later than ten days prior to the date of the briefing, at which time they will be allowed to provide comments in writing.”
Accordingly, invitations were sent to the above-mentioned categories of non-governmental organizations. The briefing is scheduled to be held in person on 19 May 2026 at the Vienna International Centre, with the possibility to observe the proceedings remotely. The deadline for the submission of confirmations of attendance and for the submission of written comments for invited NGOs has been set for 4 May 2026.
