
Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, 11-12 November 2025 – The fifth Annual Meeting of Caribbean Firearms Roadmap Partners took place on 11-12 November in Port of Spain, bringing together representatives from UNODC, UN Member States, CARICOM IMPACS, UNLIREC, UNDP, OAS, SAS, as well as donors and other partner organizations.
This annual gathering provided an important opportunity to review progress to date in the work against arms trafficking, exchange national experiences, and discuss priorities for the next phase of the Roadmap’s implementation.
Over the two days, participants highlighted continued efforts across the region to strengthen legislative frameworks, improve detection and investigative capacities, enhance inter-institutional coordination, and advance regional cooperation to counter the illicit weapons trade.
Countries shared key developments from the past year and reflected on challenges and opportunities for further progress.

A central focus of the meeting was the presentation and discussion of the Mid-Term Review (MTR) of the Caribbean Firearms Roadmap.
Partners examined its findings and reflected on the six recommendations proposed to guide the Roadmap toward 2030. These include:

UNODC actively participated in the discussions, outlining its ongoing support to 10 Caribbean countries in areas such as legislative development, detection and investigative capacities, inter-agency cooperation, and improved international collaboration.
UNODC reaffirmed its commitment to continue working with countries and regional partners to advance the implementation of the Roadmap and strengthen firearms control across the Caribbean.
Participants agreed on the importance of maintaining momentum, ensuring sustained national engagement, and further enhancing cooperation among all partners.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continue collective efforts to reduce illicit firearms flows and strengthen security and resilience throughout the region.
